- Due to its reliability, it was worn four times by the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition team and later by adventurers and explorers in the severest conditions on Earth, including the North and South Poles and Mount Everest.
- The modern recreation of the 1965 Diver has been designed under the theme of 'The Great Wave' - a reference to the iconic woodblock print by artist Hokusai, during the Edo period.
- Crafted from stainless steel with a super-hard coating, this timepiece features a special silver-coloured dial pattern, inspired by the wave symbol on its case back.
- This symbol, seen on all Seiko diving watches since the 1960s, was designed to symbolise high-grade water resistance.
- Prospex is a combination of the words 'Professional' and 'Specifications.' Seiko Prospex timepieces are designed to be practical, reliable and durable; to meet the high standards required in extreme environments for sports lovers and adventure seekers alike.
- The mechanism used is an in-house-built 6R54 automatic with manual winding movement. This calibre movement is complete with 24 Jewels and a 72-hour power reserve.
- The uni-directional rotating bezel: The precise and safe operation of the uni-directional bezel prevents accidental rotation. This is to prevent the watch from displaying the elapsed time shorter than it actually is.
